Energy Projects

Mongolyn Alt (MAK) company has defined the next 30 years as the "30 Years Towards a Green Future." Within this framework, the company is actively implementing projects and programs to supply the electricity consumption of its facilities with green, renewable energy. Specifically, MAK has signed an agreement with Huawei to establish a 40 MW solar power plant and a 90 MW energy storage system to supply renewable energy to its factories and mines located in Tuv, Dornogovi, and Dundgovi provinces, with plans to commission these facilities within this year.

Dundgobi province Solar Power Plant

A 13.5 MW solar power plant and a 32 MWh energy storage system have been established based on the Khuut mine, reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 19,742 tons.

In cooperation with Tengri Holding, a 600 MW (300x2) capacity power plant with greenhouse gas emission-free technology will be constructed near the Tsaidamnuur brown coal deposit in Bayan soum. Additionally, a 100 MW wind power plant and a 100 MW solar power plant will be established, which will increase the capacity of the central regional power system and enhance opportunities for mining, heavy, and light industries development in that area.

Tuv province Solar Power Plan

In addition to the 1.6 MW solar power plant being established at Sergelen Industrial Park, an additional 3.3 MW solar power plant and a 10 MWh energy storage system will be installed, reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by 6,284 tons.

Omnogobi Province

  • Based on the Nariinsukhait mine located in Gurvantes soum, a 110 kV overhead power transmission line from China to the mine and a 31 MVA capacity substation will be commissioned in August 2024. As part of this project, an 8 million tons per year capacity coal conveyor system is being implemented at the Nariinsukhait mine.

  • In 2026, in cooperation with China’s “Power China” company, a 100 MW (50x2) thermal power plant will be established. Construction of a 30 MW power plant will begin in 2025.

Dornod Province

A coal conveyor and a 300 MW (150x2) thermal power plant will be established at the Aduunchuluun mine located in Bayantumen soum, increasing the number of domestic energy sources.
